Also known as the temperate winter rain climate or Mediterranean climate. A temperate climate with a lot of rain in the winter and hot and dry in the summer. It is common in the western part of the continent, especially in the Mediterranean coastal areas. It is also found in South Africa, the California area of North America, and the west coast of Australia.

温帯冬雨気候，地中海性気候とも。温帯気候の中で，冬に雨が多く，夏は高温乾燥な気候。大陸の西側で多くみられ，特に地中海沿岸一帯に顕著。ほかに南アフリカ，北米カリフォルニア一帯，オーストラリア西岸などにみられる。
