Underground power transmission - underground
A method of transmitting electricity using power cables buried underground. It is reliable with few breakdowns and is advantageous in terms of the aesthetic appearance of the city, but construction and repair costs are high. It is widely used in urban areas in Europe and the United States, but in Japan it is only used between substations around large cities such as Tokyo and Osaka. Transmission voltages of 11 to 77 kilovolts are used.
