Tamura Nariyoshi

Tamura Nariyoshi
1851-1920 A showman from the Meiji to Taisho era.
Born on February 1, 1851. In 1879, he partnered with the 12th Morita Kan'ya and became legal advisor to the Shintomi-za. From 1865, he managed the Chitose-za (later the Meiji-za), and from 1906, the Ichimura-za, creating the Ichimura-za era led by the 6th Onoe Kikugorou and the first Nakamura Kichiemon. He also served as an advisor to the Tokyo Kabuki-za. He passed away on November 8, 1920, at the age of 70. He was from Edo. His real surname was Fukui. His works include "Zozozoz Kabuki Chronicle."

嘉永(かえい)4年2月1日生まれ。明治12年12代守田勘弥と提携して新富座の法律顧問につく。18年から千歳座(のちの明治座)を,41年から市村座を経営,6代尾上菊五郎,初代中村吉右衛門らによる市村座時代をつくりあげた。また東京歌舞伎座の相談役をつとめた。大正9年11月8日死去。70歳。江戸出身。本姓は福井。著作に「続々歌舞伎年代記」など。
