A radical faction of the Hussites who rebelled against the Holy Roman Emperor, who supported the teachings of the Bohemian religious reformer Huss, who had been executed for heresy, in the first half of the 15th century. They got their name from the fortified city of Tabor (properly Tabor), which they built in the mountains near Sezimovo Ústí in southern Bohemia in 1420, and used it as their base of operations. As the main force of the Hussite army led by military commander Žižka, they defeated the imperial army five times between 1420 and 1431, and later launched expeditions abroad.
