Blue Light

...German film director and actress, representative of "Nazi films." Born in Berlin, she studied art and then studied as a ballerina under Max Reinhardt. She was recognized by director Arnold Fanck and starred in mountain films (The Holy Mountain, 1925, The Silver Ridge, 1929, Dance of the Silver Ridge, 1931, etc.), and with the cooperation of Hungarian-born screenwriter and theorist Béla Balázs, she directed and starred in Blue Light (1932), based on a mountain legend in the Dolomiti region of Italy. She was trusted by Hitler, and directed the documentary film Triumph of the Faith, held in Nuremberg in 1933, Triumph of the Will, held in 1934, and the Berlin Olympic film Olympia in 1936 (a two-part film consisting of Festival of the People and Festival of Beauty).
