Tabon Caves

Japanese: タボン洞窟群 - タボンどうくつぐん（英語表記）Tabon Caves

A group of cave ruins located in the area of Cape Lipun in Quezon District, on the central west coast of Palawan Island, Republic of the Philippines. 29 limestone caves were discovered on the cape, which was once an island, and have been surveyed by the National Museum of the Philippines since 1962, with a summary published by RBFox. The caves date from various periods from the Paleolithic to the early modern period, but most of the caves show burials in urns dating back to the Neolithic period and onwards, including those with Chinese ceramics from the Song and Yuan dynasties.

フィリピン共和国，パラワン島の中部西岸，ケソン地区のリプウン岬一帯に所在する洞窟遺跡群。かつて島であった同岬で29の石灰岩洞窟が発見され，1962年以来，フィリピン国立博物館の手で調査が行われ，フォックスR.B.Foxにより概報が公刊されている。旧石器時代以降，近世に至るさまざまな時代のものがあるが，新石器時代以降，宋･元の中国陶磁を伴うものまでの長期間にわたる甕(骨壺)棺葬は，大半の洞窟でみられる。
