Bantam

...Indonesia, a kingdom that existed from around 1527 to 1813, centered on the port of Banten on the western tip of Java. It is written as Bantam in European documents. Sunan Gunung Jati (Farathehan), one of the so-called "Nine Saints" from Pasai, North Sumatra, introduced Islam to Demak on the north coast of Java in 1524, and then moved to Banten in search of a base for missionary work and trade.
