Jada stone (English spelling)

Japanese: ジャダ石 - ジャダせき(英語表記)jada tashı
Jada stone (English spelling)
A stone used in incantations to summon wind and snow among Turkic-Mongolian peoples. Known examples include the 5th century Etpan, the 10th century Kimek, the 11th century Yagma, the 13th century Mongolia, the 15th century Chagatai, and the 18th century Uighurs, who used it to confuse invading enemies, extinguish fires, and dispel heat. One theory is that this stone was a concretion, especially a fecal pellet, that formed inside the bodies of animals such as horses and cattle, and when this was tied to a willow branch and placed in clear water to pray for rain, rain would immediately fall.
