It is one of a group of lakes in the marshes between the Tone River and the Watarase River in the northwest of Tatebayashi City, Gunma Prefecture. The marshes in the northeast of the marsh were reclaimed after World War II and turned into rice paddies, but the marshes remaining on the lake shore in the west and south are protected as scenic areas. It is a popular fishing spot for carp and crucian carp, and the pine forests of the old sand dunes on the southeast side of the marsh are also scenic areas.
