The indigenous people of Tasmania, Australia. They are said to have retained the oldest form of human culture until the 19th century, but only five complete sets of human bones remain, and there are virtually no reliable records. There is no consensus on their origins; there are several theories, including one that says they changed as a result of the Aborigines being isolated from the continent for about 10,000 years, another that says they originated from Pygmies or Negritos, and another that says they drifted ashore from New Caledonia, a Melanesian theory. The first theory is further divided into several areas, as there are many uncertainties about the origins of the Australian Aborigines.
