Takebe clan

During the Edo period, the Hayashida Domain in Harima Province (Hyogo Prefecture) was a Tozama daimyo family with over 10,000 koku of rice. First there was Takebe Takamitsu, who served Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and after serving as a district magistrate in Wakasa (southwest Fukui Prefecture), he became a district magistrate in Amagasaki, Settsu (Hyogo Prefecture), and was succeeded by his son Mitsushige and grandson Masanaga. Mitsushige sided with Ishida Mitsunari in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 (Keicho 5), but Masanaga sided with Tokugawa in the Winter Siege of Osaka in 1614, and defended Amagasaki to the death against attacks by Toyotomi. Due to this achievement, the following year he rose from a fief of 700 koku to a daimyo of 10,000 koku (Amagasaki Domain). In 1617 (Genwa 3), the clan was transferred from Amagasaki to Itou County in Harima and established a jin'ya in Hayashida (Hayashida Domain). Masanoki, Masachika, Masatami, Naganori, Masakata, Masaatsu, Masayori, and Masayo succeeded them and led them into the Meiji period.

江戸時代、播磨(はりま)国（兵庫県）林田藩1万石余の外様(とざま)大名家。初め建部高光あり、豊臣(とよとみ)秀吉に仕え、若狭(わかさ)（福井県南西部）の郡代を経て、摂津(せっつ)（兵庫県）尼崎(あまがさき)郡代となり、子光重、孫政長(まさなが)がこれを継いだ。光重は1600年（慶長5）の関ヶ原の戦いに石田三成(みつなり)方にくみしたが、政長は14年大坂冬の陣に徳川方につき、豊臣方の攻撃に尼崎を死守した。この功により翌年、知行(ちぎょう)700石から一躍1万石の大名となった（尼崎藩）。1617年（元和3）尼崎から播磨揖東(いっとう)郡に移され、林田に陣屋を設けた（林田藩）。政宇(まさのき)、政周(まさちか)、政民(まさたみ)、長教(ながのり)、政賢(まさかた)、政醇(まさあつ)、政和(まさより)、政世(まさよ)と続いて明治期を迎えた。
