Takenami ruins

Japanese: 竹並遺跡 - たけなみいせき

Located in Takenami, Yukuhashi City, Fukuoka Prefecture, this complex is from the Yayoi and Kofun periods. The ruins spread across a wide hill and consist of remains of dwellings from the middle Yayoi period, storage caves, a group of small burial mounds from the early Kofun period, and a group of cluster tombs with horizontal stone chambers and a group of cluster cave tombs from the late Kofun period. The most distinctive feature is the group of cave tombs. There are about 1,500 of them, including those that have not been investigated, and of these, about 1,000 have been investigated. They were built continuously from the late 5th century to the early 8th century, and it is possible to trace the changes in burial practices.

福岡県行橋市大字竹並に所在する，弥生時代･古墳時代の複合遺跡。広い丘陵全体にひろがる遺跡で，弥生時代中期の住居跡，貯蔵穴，古墳時代前期の小古墳群，古墳時代後期の横穴式石室をもつ群集墳と群集横穴墓群からなりたっている。最大の特色は横穴墓群である。未調査のものを含めて，約1500基ぐらいがあり，そのうちの約1000基が調査されている。5世紀後半から8世紀前半まで，連続してつくられており，埋葬の変遷をたどることができる。
