Usually refers to the rice, salt, cloth, cotton, etc. given to lower-ranking government officials such as eji (guards) , servants, uneme (court ladies) , and female attendants in the various offices and bureaus. Also refers to the rice and other items given as tribute from various provinces to be used for these. Public food. 〘名〙① 令制での官人給与の総称。ふつう、下級官人である諸司諸寮の衛士(えじ)・仕丁・采女(うねめ)・女丁などの番上のものに給する米・塩・布・綿などを指す。また、それにあてるために諸国が貢納する米など。公粮。たいりょう。※延喜式(927)一一「凡親王以下月料并諸司要劇及大粮等、毎月申レ官出充」② 転じて、給与。※東寺百合文書‐を・応永一五年(1408)五月一三日「金蓮院出仕大粮以下 百五十文」
