...In the Canary Islands, Dominguez and others formed groups, in England, Penrose and others, and in Denmark, Wilhelm Freddie (1909- ), and others formed groups, and held the International Surrealist Exhibition (1935, 36) in each capital city. Hans Bellmer (1902-75) came from Germany, and Victor Brauner (1903-66) and Jacques Hérold (1910- ) came from Romania. The activities of the exile group in New York during World War II and their influence on the United States and Canada, as well as the activities of Hungarian Simon Hantaï (1922- ) and Swedish Max Walter Svanberg (1912- ), who came to Paris after the war, are also not to be overlooked, but what is more important is the penetration into the so-called "Third World". ...
