[Died] c.892 Arabian (Iranian) historian. He spent most of his life in Baghdad and was highly valued at the Abbasid court. Futūh al-Buldān (The History of the Conquests of the Worlds) is a famous work that tells the history of the great conquests from the time of Muhammad to the early Islamic period, and also touches on cultural and social aspects. Ansāb al-Ashrāf (The Genealogy of Notable Men) also tells the deeds of famous people in the early Islamic period.
