Shinpo - Shinpo

It is a port city in South Hamgyong Province, North Korea, facing the Sea of ​​Japan. The port is a natural harbor with Mayang Island surrounding it four kilometers in front. The bay has calm waves, and the white sandy seabed is a spawning ground for pollock (Alaska pollock). During the fishing season, large schools of pollock flock here, making it North Korea's largest pollock fishing base. There is a canning factory, a fishery processing plant, a fisheries research institute, and a shipyard.

北朝鮮、咸鏡南道(かんきょうなんどう／ハムギョンナムド)にあり、日本海に臨む港市。港は4キロメートル前面に馬養島(ばようとう／マヤント)を囲む天然の良港。湾内は波静かで、白砂の海底はメンタイ（スケトウダラ）の産卵場である。漁期にはメンタイの大群が押し寄せ、北朝鮮第一のメンタイ漁業根拠地である。缶詰工場、水産加工場をはじめ水産研究所、造船所がある。
