A fish of the family Perciformes. Local names include Ooio and Ooyo. Its total length is over 2m. It lives in deep sea (300-600m) reef areas in various parts of Japan and the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, and migrates to slightly shallower areas during the spawning season in May and June.
