A Russian stage designer. After graduating from the Fine Arts Department of Moscow Film University, he became the exclusive artist for the Bolshoi Theatre in 1965, mainly working on stage art for operas. However, he also does a lot of work for drama theatres, and his deep understanding of plays and unique artistic expression fascinate directors. When AV Efros came to Japan in 1981 and performed The Cherry Orchard with the Tokyo Theatre Ensemble, he accompanied him and was in charge of the stage art. His distinctive style as an artist is his ability to bring bold ideas together in an elegant way. [Miyazawa Shunichi]

ロシアの舞台美術家。モスクワ映画大学美術科卒業後，1965年にボリショイ劇場専属美術家となり，主としてオペラの美術を担当した。しかし，ドラマ劇場での仕事も多く，その深い戯曲理解とユニークな美術表現は演出家たちを魅了している。81年にA.V.エーフロスが来日し劇団東京演劇アンサンブルで《桜の園》を上演した際も，同行して美術を担当した。大胆な構想を優美にまとめる表現に美術家としての特色がある。【宮沢俊一】
