…The word yuai can mean friendship in the narrow sense, but as a translation of Western words such as the English word fraternity, it can also mean affection between brothers, and more broadly, the affection that binds a group such as a family, and the brotherly love between humans that embraces all humans as one family. In this broadest sense, yuai is synonymous with philanthropy and brotherly love.
