Lunar calendar - lunar calendar

Japanese:
Lunar calendar - lunar calendar

A calendar system that counts days based only on the lunar month (29.53059 days) of the waxing and waning moon. It is also called the lunar calendar for short. Therefore, it is unrelated to the seasonal cycle and is not suitable for agricultural purposes. It is thought that when calendars first came into being, all peoples and countries would have used the lunar calendar, but today, the only calendar that follows this system is the Islamic calendar (Mohammedan calendar, Huihui calendar). In a broad sense, the lunar calendar also includes the lunar-solar calendar, but when it is necessary to make a distinction, the lunar calendar is called a pure lunar calendar.
