A type of net fishing gear. It belongs to the fixed net (tateami) category. It consists of two sections, a fish-catching section and a fence section, or three sections: a fish-catching section, an enclosure section, and a fence section, and is designed to immediately drop schools of fish guided by the fence section into the fish-catching section. Platform nets are classified into Oshiki nets and Daibo nets based on their structure. Oshiki nets have the oldest origins among the fixed nets, and there was the Southwestern Oshiki net that originated in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and the Hokuriku-style Daibo net that originated in Toyama Bay. The fish-catching section of the Oshiki net is triangular, and the apex of the triangle at the back is connected to a large float called a platform. One side of the triangular fish-catching section is open, making it easy for schools of fish to enter, but it also has the disadvantage of making it easy for them to escape. Not only Oshiki nets but Daibo nets are also disappearing.
