Sonohi branch - Sonpibunmyaku
The official title is Shinpenzu Honcho Sonpi Bunmyaku Keifu Miscellaneous Collection. It is a compilation of genealogies of various families that were established during the Northern and Southern Courts period. Compiled by Toin Kosada. In the Edo period, it was published under the title Shoka Daikeizu. After Kosada compiled it, several generations of the Toin family, including Toin Mitsunobu and his son Sanehiro, were involved in compiling the genealogy. Due to the many additions and corrections, it is nearly impossible to guess the original form, but the following can be considered. As the title "Sonpi" indicates, it seems likely that there was another imperial family tree that is not in the current edition, which interpreted ordinary aristocrats as humble and the emperor as son. The notes contain the words "Shinto priest family tree" and "Shrine official family tree," so it seems that there were also family trees with the duties of Shinto priests, the four paths (Kiden, Myokyo, Myoho, San), Iin (medo, onmyodo), and Gakusho (maijin, housho, ryuteki, hichiriki). The clans of the imperial family were arranged in the order of the Minamoto clan, the Taira clan, and the Tachibana clan, and the various branches of the Shinto priest Fujiwara clan were arranged after them. In the current version, the Fujiwara clan is the center, and the majority of the family trees are made up of these. First, the regent family of the Northern family, then the descendants of the Northern family Fujiwara no Fuyutsugu, then the branches that split off before Fuyutsugu, followed by the Southern family, the Ceremony family, and the Kyoto family. In addition, the Sugawara family tree in the current book is probably part of the Kiden family of the four paths, the Kiyohara family tree is also part of the Myokyo family, and the Otsuki family tree is also part of the Sando family. The genealogies of the various imperial families are not uniform, with some lacking the Taira family tree and some with differences in the details of the supplementary records. Many of the people who subsequently copied this genealogy were first-class aristocrats, such as Kanroji Chikanaga, Sanjonishi Sanetaka, and Nakamikado Nobutane (1442-1525), and it is likely that they added and revised it in various ways based on their knowledge. Because it is so large, various variant versions likely emerged as it was copied and rewritten many times. Current copies include 30, 20, and 18 volumes. It is essential for researching the genealogies of aristocrats from ancient times to the Middle Ages. Included in the Kokushi Taikei.
