This was the organ of the Philippine reform movement, published by Filipinos in Spain. In the early 1880s, a reform movement called the Propaganda Movement began in the Philippines under Spanish rule. This movement was carried out not only in Manila and neighboring provinces, but also in Spain, mainly by Filipino students and political refugees. Solidaridad was launched as the latter's organ on February 15, 1889, and continued to be published bimonthly until November 15, 1895. The editor-in-chief was originally Graciano Lopez-Jaena, but when the publication location moved from Barcelona to Madrid in November 1889, he was replaced by del Pilar, who was responsible for editing until the final issue.
