Vaginal bimanual examination

Japanese: 双合診 - そうごうしん（英語表記）vaginal bimanual examination

This is one of the basic gynecological examination methods, and is also called bimanual vaginal examination or bimanual abdominal vaginal examination. It is also usually simply called internal (vaginal) examination. After the patient urinates, she is made to lie supine on a gynecological examination table (also called an internal examination table) in the lithotomy position (knees bent, both thighs tilted outward to the left and right, legs spread wide). The index and middle fingers of one hand are inserted into the vagina as internal examination fingers, and the other hand is placed on the abdominal wall slightly above the pubic symphysis as external examination fingers, and the internal and external examination fingers are made to interact with each other to palpate the internal genitalia.

婦人科における基本的診察法の一つで，腟双合診あるいは腟腹壁双合診ともいう。また，通常たんに内診(広義)internal (vaginal) examinationともいう。　患者に排尿させた後，婦人科診察台(内診台ともいう)上に仰臥させて，砕石位(ひざを曲げ，両大腿をそれぞれ左右外方に倒して股を大きく開いた姿勢)をとらせる。片方の手の示指と中指の2本を腟内に挿入して内診指とし，もう一方の手を恥骨結合より少し上方の腹壁上においてその手指を外診指とし，内診指と外診指とを相呼応させて内性器を触診する。
