…NGOs are international organizations with two main characteristics: first, they are not bound by the national interests pursued by national governments, and second, they promote the movement of free association across borders. The latter characteristic is divided into non-profit non-governmental organizations (INGOs) and profit-making non-governmental organizations (BINGOs) depending on whether their purpose is profit-making or not.
