A collection of Chinese prose from the Tang dynasty. 1000 volumes. Compiled by Dong Hao and others of the Qing dynasty in 1814 (the 19th year of the Jiaqing dynasty) under imperial command. It contains 3035 authors and 20,025 works. Following the style of the Complete Tang Poems (1706), it is organized by author and includes a brief biography of each author. Based on the ancient manuscript Tangwen, a secret treasure of the imperial court, it comprehensively covers prose from the Tang and Five Dynasties periods by searching similar books and anthologies such as the Yongle Encyclopedia, Wenyuan Yinghua, and Tangwen Sui. It contains works that can only be found here today, making it a valuable resource for studying the literature, thought, and history of the Tang dynasty. In addition, the Qing dynasty's Lu Xinyuan's "Tangwen Shui" (Collection of Tang Classics) (1888) and "Tangwen Zokushu" (Continuation of Tangwen) (1894) added to the list of 777 authors and 2,871 works.
