IGFarben (Company)

Japanese: イーゲー･ファルベン[会社]（英語表記）I.G.Farben

Its full name was Interessengemeinschaft Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft (Interest Community Dye Industry Aktiengesellschaft). It was Germany's largest global chemical industry trust before World War II. Germany's chemical industry, which lagged behind Britain and France, underwent repeated concentration of companies in the late 19th century, but the defeat in World War I put the country in a difficult position. In this situation, IG Farben was born in 1925 through the merger of six major chemical companies (Badisch Aniline und Soda GmbH (the precursor to BASF), Friedrich Bayer Dyestführer (the precursor to Bayer), Agfa (the precursor to Agfa-Gewählt), Weiler-Therme Chemicals GmbH, Griesheim Elektronen Chemicals, and Hoechst Dyestführer (the precursor to Hoechst)).

正称はInteressengemeinschaft Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft(利益共同体染料工業株式会社)。第2次大戦前のドイツ最大の世界的化学工業トラスト。イギリスやフランスに比べ立ち遅れていたドイツの化学工業は，19世紀後半，企業集中をくり返したが，第1次大戦の敗戦で厳しい状況に立ち至った。こうしたなかで，1925年に六大化学工業会社(バーディッシュ･アニリン･ウント･ソーダ工業社(バスフ(BASF)の前身)，フリードリヒ･バイエル染料社(バイエル社の前身)，アグファ社(アグファ･ゲバルト社の前身)，ワイラー･テル･メール化学社，グリースハイム･エレクトロン化学工業，ヘキスト染料(ヘキスト社の前身))の合同により生まれたのがイーゲー･ファルベンである。
