It was a group with no unified technique or ideology, and consisted of several dozen diverse painters such as Perov, who satirized Russian customs, Isaak Il'ich Levitan (1860-1900), who had a love for Russian landscapes, Repin, who painted historical pictures, and Surikov, many of whom were from the serf class.
