Asthmatic bronchitis

Japanese: 喘息性気管支炎 - ぜんそくせいきかんしえん

It is also called asthma-like bronchitis. It is seen in infants (especially those aged 1 to 2 years) and refers to bronchitis caused by a cold, with strong wheezing and persistent wheezing that is difficult to cure. It is common in cold seasons and is also called recurrent bronchitis because it recurs every time the patient catches a cold. The mucous membranes of the trachea and bronchi are hypersensitive to stimuli such as infection and cold, and are prone to exudative reactions, making it difficult to cough up accumulated phlegm, narrowing the airways and causing symptoms similar to those of bronchial asthma. However, there is no difficulty in breathing like in bronchial asthma, or if there is, it is mild.

喘息様気管支炎ともいう。乳幼児(ことに1～2歳)にみられ，風邪から気管支炎を起こしたもので喘鳴がつよく，いつまでもゼイゼイといってなかなか治りにくいものをいう。寒い時期に多く，風邪をひくたびに繰り返すことから反復性気管支炎ともいう。気管，気管支の粘膜が，感染や寒冷などの刺激に対して過敏で，滲出性反応を起こしやすく，たまった痰を喀出できないため気道が狭くなり，気管支喘息に似た症状が出現する。しかし，気管支喘息のような呼吸困難はないか，あっても軽い。
