Asama faith - Sengenshinko

Japanese:
Asama faith - Sengenshinko
It is a form of worship of Mt. Fuji. The Asama Shrines that worship Mt. Fuji are enshrined at the foot of the mountain and are the center of worship. The deity of Mt. Fuji is a woman, Konohana no Sakuya Hime. Miyako Yoshika's "Fujisan-ki" also records a beautiful princess dancing at the summit, and the mountain has been worshipped as a sacred mountain since ancient times. Asama Shrines are village shrines, and in the Middle Ages, the number of Fuji-do practitioners who climbed Mt. Fuji through these shrines increased. In the early modern period, one of these people, Hasegawa Kakugyo, appeared and established a Fuji-ko sect independent of Asama Shrine. This sect later gained great influence based on the townspeople of Edo. In modern times, sectarian Shinto sects such as Fusokyo, Jitsugyokyo, and Maruyamakyo were established.
