Participated in the founding of Bungeishunju Shinsha in 1946, became editor-in-chief of "Bungei Shunju", and used non-fiction to increase circulation. Became president in 1966. Died February 13, 1973. Age 63. Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. Works include "Editor's Statement" and "History Lover".
