Born December 22, 1909. Joined Bungeishunjusha in 1933, worked on editing "Hanashi" and became editor-in-chief of "Local Report" in 1946. Participated in the founding of Bungeishunju Shinsha in 1946, became editor-in-chief of "Bungei Shunju", and used non-fiction to increase circulation. Became president in 1966. Died February 13, 1973. Age 63. Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. Works include "Editor's Statement" and "History Lover".
