The first women's rights conference was held in 1848 in Seneca Falls, a rural town in New York State, USA. Approximately 300 men and women, including abolitionists and temperance activists, participated, and it is considered the starting point of the American women's movement. The conference was initiated by Lucretia C. Mott and Elizabeth C. Stanton, who had experienced discrimination as women during the abolitionist movement. The conference adopted a "Declaration of Sentiments," drafted by Stanton as a parody of the Declaration of Independence, which proclaimed that "all men and women are created equal," as well as 11 resolutions to achieve gender equality.

1848年，アメリカ合衆国ニューヨーク州の田舎町セネカ･フォールズで開かれた最初の女性の権利獲得のための会議。奴隷制廃止論者，禁酒運動家などを含めた男女約300名が参加，アメリカ女性運動の出発点とされる。奴隷制廃止運動のなかで女性としての差別を体験したモットLucretia C.MottとスタントンElizabeth C.Stantonが会議の発案者となった。会議は，スタントンが独立宣言をもじって起草した，〈すべての男女は平等につくられ〉と唱える〈所感の宣言〉と，男女平等を達成するための11の決議案を採択した。
