Adhesive - Setchak

The bonding of the contact surfaces between two substances (same or different). The bonding process includes flow, wetting, penetration/diffusion, adsorption, and solidification (evaporation, cooling, polycondensation). For effective bonding to be achieved, the adhesive molecules and the molecules of the adherend must be in close proximity to each other, and for this the adhesive must be able to flow easily, wet easily, and penetrate into the microscopic irregularities of the adherend. As solidification causes volumetric shrinkage, it is necessary to relieve the internal stress that occurs, and for this purpose a plasticizer or similar is added. There are several theories about the mechanism of interfacial bonding, including the adsorption theory, anchoring theory, electrostatic theory, and diffusion theory, but in any case, there is no doubt that strong intermolecular forces are at work.

二つの物質(同種または異種)間の接触表面の接合．接着の過程には，流動，ぬれ，浸透拡散，吸着，固化(蒸発，冷却，重縮合)が含まれる．接着が有効に達成するためには，接着剤分子と被着体分子が十分近接することが必要で，そのために接着剤は流動しやすく，ぬれやすく被着体のミクロな凹凸に入りうることが条件になる．固化では体積収縮が起こるので，発生する内部応力を緩和させることが必要で，そのため，可塑剤などを添加する．界面の接合の機構については，吸着説，投錨説，静電気説，拡散説などがあるが，いずれにせよ分子間力が強固にはたらいていることは間違いない．
