Sekigahara [town] - Sekigahara
A town in Fuwa County in the southwest of Gifu Prefecture. It is close to the Ibuki Mountains, where the Nakasendo and Hokkoku and Ise roads branch off, and has been a strategic military and transportation point since ancient times. Fuwanoseki is located here, and it was the site of the Battle of Sekigahara. The main settlement is a former post town, and it is served by the Tokaido Main Line, National Route 21, and Meishin Expressway. There are spinning and stone factories. The town produces rice and timber. The Sekigahara battlefield is a historic site. A drive leads to Mt. Ibuki. 49.28 km2 . 8,096 people (2010).
