A table is made out of bamboo and wrapped in a thin crimson cloth called koudan , with the top staggered in places as decoration. 〘名〙① 書籍・すずり箱などをのせる台。また、歌会や連歌・俳諧の会席で、短冊・懐紙などをのせる台で、会席の中心・象徴となるもの。ふだい。※内裏式(833)九月九日菊花宴式「内蔵寮立二文台於舞台西北一」② 歌比丘尼の持つ手箱。※浮世草子・好色一代女(1686)三「絹の二布の裾短く、とりなり一つに拵へ、文台(ブンダイ)に入しは、熊野の牛王」③ 能楽の作り物の一つ。竹で机の形を作ってその上を香緂(こうだん)と呼ぶ紅色の細布で巻き、所々を千鳥がけにして飾りとしたもの。「草子洗小町(そうしあらいこまち)」で用いる。
