Japanese: 清内路[村] - せいないじ

A village in Shimoina County, southern Nagano Prefecture. Population 889 (1995). It is located in the southern Kiso Mountains, in the upper reaches of the Achi River, a tributary of the Tenryu River, and borders Iida City to the east. A typical mountain village, almost the entire area is forest and wilderness. Charcoal production was once thriving here, but in recent years the main industries have been tobacco leaf and shiitake mushroom cultivation. 長野県南部，下伊那郡の村。人口889(1995)。木曾山脈南部，天竜川支流の阿智川上流域に位置し，東は飯田市に接する。典型的な山村で，ほぼ全域が山林･原野であり，かつては木炭の生産が盛んであったが，近年は葉タバコ，シイタケなどの栽培が中心になっている。近年，精密機械部品工場が進出しているが，伝統産業の木工業や手作り花火の生産も行われる。【萩原毅】
