Japanese: 青銅峡 - せいどうきょう

A gorge located about 70 km south-southwest of Yinchuan City in the central-western Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China, where the Yellow River flows north from Niushou Mountain into the Yinchuan (Ningxia) Plain. A dam was built here in 1958, resulting in a 260,000 kW hydroelectric power station, a reservoir that fills about 100 km upstream, and an irrigation network running through the plain. The construction of this dam gave birth to Qingdongxia City, about 20 km downstream, where electricity and cement industries are located, and it is the center of Qingdongxia County. [Ono Kikuo]

中国，寧夏回族自治区中西部，銀川市の南南西約70km，黄河が牛首山から北の銀川(寧夏)平原に出る地点の峡谷。1958年からここにダムが建設され，出力26万kWの水力発電所，上流約100km付近まで湛水する貯水池，平原を走る灌漑水路網が出現した。このダム建設によって，下流約20kmに電力やセメント工業などのみられる青銅峡市が誕生し，青銅峡県の中心地となっている。【小野菊雄】
