A German publishing house founded in Tübingen in 1659 by Johann Georg Cotta (1631-92) that specializes in literary and academic books. Since 1977, it has merged with the literary and academic division of Klett and is now known as Klett-Cotta. It is currently based in Stuttgart. During its heyday from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century, it published works by classicists such as Goethe and Schiller, romanticists such as F. 1659年コッタJohann Georg Cotta(1631‐92)によりチュービンゲンに設立された文芸・学術書を中心とするドイツの出版社。1977年以降クレット社の文芸・学術部門と合併してクレット・コッタ社になっている。現所在地はシュトゥットガルト。18世紀後半から19世紀中葉にかけての盛期には古典主義のゲーテ,シラー,ロマン主義のF.シュレーゲル,さらにはヘルダーリン,クライスト,ジャン・パウルなどの作品を世に問うとともに,諸分野の学術書も多数刊行していた。
