Also called electric field deflection. A method that uses an electric field to change the direction of an electron beam. In an electric field, electrons experience a force in the opposite direction to the electric field, so this can be used to change the direction of the electron beam. A high voltage is required to deflect the beam at a large angle, but since the deflection accuracy is good, this method is used in small cathode ray tubes for measurement such as synchroscopes.
