Productive force (English spelling)

Generally speaking, it means the power to produce material goods, but in Marxist economics, it is considered one of the basic concepts that explain historical trends as one aspect that constitutes the mode of production along with the relations of production. K. Marx did not specifically describe either productive forces or relations of production other than a brief explanation in the preface to "Critique of Political Economy," but according to the interpretation commonly taken today, the components of productive forces are the means of production and labor power, and when these elements are combined in a certain way to actually perform the function of production, it is called productive forces.
