King of the Angkor Dynasty of Cambodia at its height. Reigned from 1113 to 1150. Date of birth and death unknown. He was the third king of the new Mahidarapura dynasty that emerged in the late 11th century. He succeeded his great-uncle Dharanindravarman I to the throne. As he was a devout believer in the god Vishnu, he was given the posthumous title Parama Vishnuloka (meaning "the king who went to the sublime land of Vishnu"). He unified the country, occupied Champa to the east for five years from 1145, and invaded Dai Viet (Vietnam) three times. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
