Grand Prince of Kievan Rus. Reigned from 945 to 972. Son of Grand Prince Igor, he set out from Kievan Rus in 964-971 and invaded the Oka and Volga rivers, the North Caucasus, and the Balkans (Danubian Bulgars), strengthening the power of ancient Kievan Rus. In order to liberate the Byatichi people, he fought against the Turkic nomads, the Khazars, but in 965 he made a peace treaty with the Khazar Khanate and also fought and cooperated with the Volga Bulgars. He also united with the Bulgars and Hungarians (Magyars) in the Balkans, and launched the Great Bulgarian Expedition. He also confronted the Byzantine Empire, threatening successive emperors.

キエフ･ロシアの大公。在位945ころ‐972年。イーゴリ大公の息子で，964‐971年にキエフを進発して，オカ川やボルガ川の流域，北カフカス地方やバルカン半島(ドナウ･ブルガール国)に遠征し，古代キエフ･ロシアの勢威を高めた。ビャチチ族を解放するため，トルコ系遊牧民ハザル族と戦うが，965年にはハザル･ハーン国と和約し，ボルガ･ブルガール国とも交戦と協調を繰り返した。またブルガール族やハンガリー(マジャール)人と連合して，バルカン半島を南下してブルガリア大遠征を行い，またビザンティン帝国とも対決して歴代皇帝を脅かした。
