Mice that live in human dwellings and nearby farmland, living semi-parasitically on human society. Usually, it refers to three species: the brown rat, the brown rat, and the house mouse. In contrast, mice that live in the wild in natural environments such as mountains and fields are called field mice. Even if a field mouse temporarily invades a human dwelling, it is not called a house mouse. The above three species have wild ancestors in Central Asia and Southeast Asia, but they are the only mammals that have adapted to the new habitat of human society and succeeded in parasitizing it, and as a result have expanded their distribution and thrived all over the world.
