An abbreviation for "Experiments in Art and Technology." An organization of artists and engineers formed in New York in 1966 by former scientist B. Klüber. The goal was to actively promote the combination of art with science and technology, such as electronics. Among visual artists, R. Rauschenberg was the most active member, and he was known for his work in many performances (→ happenings), such as "Nine Evenings of Theater and Engineering" in 1966, as well as his work at the Expo '70 in Japan.

「芸術とテクノロジーにおける実験」の略称。 1966年ニューヨークで元科学者の B.クリューバーが中心となって結成された芸術家と技術者による組織。芸術とエレクトロニクスなどの科学技術との結合を積極的に推進することを目的とした。美術家では R.ラウシェンバーグが最も活動的メンバーで，66年の『演劇とエンジニアリングの9晩』など，多くのパーフォーマンス (→ハプニング ) のほか，70年の日本万国博覧会でもその活動が知られた。
