An abbreviation for "Experiments in Art and Technology." An organization of artists and engineers formed in New York in 1966 by former scientist B. Klüber. The goal was to actively promote the combination of art with science and technology, such as electronics. Among visual artists, R. Rauschenberg was the most active member, and he was known for his work in many performances (→ happenings), such as "Nine Evenings of Theater and Engineering" in 1966, as well as his work at the Expo '70 in Japan.
