Egocentrism

Egocentrism

This refers to a way of cognition and thinking in which one cannot objectively analyze and recognize events from a third-party standpoint or from multiple perspectives, but instead analyzes and recognizes them subjectively, from one's own standpoint or from one fixed perspective. Psychologist J. Piaget believed that children's thinking had this type of character, and named it egocentric thinking. In addition to the above, he pointed out other characteristics such as the inability to introspect or reflect on one's own actions or actions, the inability to judge relative relationships, the fixation on perceptually prominent features and lack of comprehensive judgment, and the lack of awareness of contradictions. This type of thinking often occurs in pathological states such as schizophrenia and hysteria. It is different from egoism in the moral sense.
