Asenyaku (English spelling) gambir
Also known as gambir (the Malaysian name for the plant from which it is made). Extracted from the leaves and young branches of Uncaria gambir, a climbing woody plant of the Rubiaceae family found in Southeast Asia. Dark brown crystals. Contains alkaloids such as catechol and tannins. In addition to being used as a dye to dye wool, cotton, etc. yellow-brown, it is bitter and has strong astringent properties, so it is used as an antidiarrheal.
