The title of the top official in the Ritsuryo Dajokan. The Dajokan, the central administrative body of the Ritsuryo state, had three ministers as the highest official positions: the Dajodaijin, the Left Minister, and the Right Minister. The Dajodaijin was in principle an honorary position, while the Left and Right Ministers were responsible for national administration. The first such position was in 645 (Taika 1), when Abe no Uchimaro was appointed Left Minister and Soga no Kurayamada Ishikawamaro was appointed Right Minister, and the system of ministers was established after the Kiyomihara Code and the Taiho Code. There was a limit of one minister for each position, and they were considered to be officials equivalent to the second rank, and were provided with 30 cho of land, 2,000 households of food, and 200 people as servants.
