A general term for the tip of Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, covering about 5 kilometers of coastline from Cape Rokkou to Cape Kongo and Cape Ai. The Neogene Miocene strata have developed coastal terraces and wave-cut cliffs, and volcanic rocks and shale can be seen at Cape Rokkou and Cape Kongo. It is a key location for maritime traffic, and it is said that a smoke signal was sent out from Mount Yamabushi in ancient times. Cape Rokkou has a lighthouse, which attracts many tourists. Cape Kongo is home to Yoshigaura Onsen, known as a lamp lodge. Part of Noto Peninsula National Park. [Takao Yagasaki] This lighthouse stands on Cape Rokkozaki, at the very tip of the Noto Peninsula. It was built in 1883 (Meiji 16) by Japanese engineers based on a design by a British engineer. It became unmanned in 1963 (Showa 38). It is one of the lighthouses with great historical value that still retains the atmosphere of the Meiji era. The entire area is included in the Noto Peninsula Quasi-National Park.
