Izumo Tayyasu

Izumo kuni no miyatsuko in the early 8th century. According to the Engishiki (927), when a new Izumo kuni no miyatsuko is appointed, he must undergo a one-year ablution ritual before appearing at the Imperial Court and offering a prayer from the gods of Izumo. The first time this was done was in February of the second year of Reiki (716), when Kakuyasu, a kuni no miyatsuko of the seventh rank, offered a prayer. As a result of his achievement, over 110 people, from Kakuyasu to the Shukube (low-ranking priests), were invested with ranks and given gifts.

8世紀初頭の出雲国造。『延喜式』(927)によると,出雲国造に新任すると1年間の潔斎を経たのち朝廷に出て出雲の神からの祝詞を奏上する規定があるが,霊亀2(716)年2月,国造外正七位上の果安がこの神賀の事(神賀詞)を奏上したのが初見。その功により果安から祝部(下級の神職)に至るまで百十余人が叙位,賜禄にあずかった。
