Suzuki Umeshiro
1862-1940 A businessman and politician from the Meiji to early Showa periods.
Born April 26, 1862. In 1902, he moved from Mitsui Bank to Oji Paper, where he worked as managing director in the construction of the Tomakomai factory. In 1901, he established the incorporated association of medical clinics in Tokyo. In 1900, he became a member of the House of Representatives (elected five times, Seiyukai party). He passed away on April 15, 1940, at the age of 79. He was born in Shinano (Nagano prefecture). He graduated from Keio University. His pen name was Nonten. His works include "On Nationalizing Medical Practices."

文久2年4月26日生まれ。明治35年三井銀行から王子製紙にうつり,専務として苫小牧(とまこまい)工場の建設につくす。44年社団法人実費診療所を東京に設立した。45年衆議院議員(当選5回,政友会)。昭和15年4月15日死去。79歳。信濃(しなの)(長野県)出身。慶応義塾卒。号は呑天。著作に「医業国営論」など。
